Information campaign
DOC (Department of Conservation) was the chosen 'client' for this information design campaign.
In the project scenario provided, DOC 'have identified a knowledge gap amongst a particular group of New Zealanders regarding an aspect of New Zealand’s environment' - I chose public defecation (interesting choice of topic, I know!)
I was therefore required to the produce an informative campaign of information about the issue that creates awareness and encourages engagement. The main aim of this campaign would be to change a negative, unpleasant and potentially dangerous behaviour that is contaminating our beautiful New Zealand bush. Therefore the main objectives of this campaign are to:
• Raise awareness and inform the responsible camping discussion
• Educate about proper toileting etiquette in the bush
• Highlight respect of the environment and other hikers
• Increase the public’s confidence in freedom camping management and enforcement
The primary target audience is of course freedom campers, particularly both international and domestic tourists.
Birds were the main feature of this campaign and I am pleased with the overall outcome. I feel I developed a variety of technical skills relating to Adobe's main design softwares, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. Appropriate deliverables created include signage/posters, A5 flyer and rearview mirror hangers.
